We can safely say that 2022 has been our busiest year yet. With new product releases, digital tool launches, philanthropic endeavours and sustainability highlights, Let Them Eat has continued to innovate, being at the forefront of the South Australian food and beverage industry. We are proud to have grown our business by delivering delicious, wholesome, consistent food, and this resulted in a tripling of our catering division in 2022! Not bad!

And through it all, one thing has remained constant–the support and unwavering commitment of our Let Them Eat team.If ever there was a ‘dream team’ it’s our employees. They show up to work every day raring to go, they rallied around the business during Covid emergencies, they stepped up when things got tough, and supported each other through the good times and the bad. We’d like to take the opportunity to thank our extraordinary team, and to acknowledge each and every one of them for their efforts and contribution. You rock!

Giving customers control, convenience and uncommonly good service

In 2022, we launched our new Click & Collect service! This new functionality was an instant success with hundreds of people making orders online and picking them up at a store near them.

This service really got a workout over the festive season with people using Click & Collect to pre-order their Christmas Day feasts! (Why wouldn’t you?!)

We created this digital service by listening to the needs and wants of our customers. They told us that they want maximum convenience–and we’ve delivered! If you haven’t tried it yet, give it a go! You’ll love it

4 New Product Launches

You can’t keep a good chef down, and especially our Head Chef, Recipe Developer and Managing Director, Tanya.

She’s been super busy creating new in-store taste sensations throughout the year. Our new products include our chilli jam, jalapeno pasty and vegan toasties.

However, in true Let Them Eat style, we’ve gone one step further, creating a new vegan burger brand in 2022–a hit at festivals and events. Whether you love a classic cheeseburger, a Mexican twist, a beetroot bomb or a ‘beefy’ beauty, our range of burgers cater for every tastebud–and they’re all vegan to boot!

Our burger feedback has been glowing, and we look forward to offering more burger goodness at events in 2023!

Giving back – it’s how we do business
We were delighted to support a number of not-for-profit organisations in 2022 – Taboo and Loud Shirt Day. Giving back is part of our DNA. We love to support our local community and give back to those in need.
Our altruistic endeavours collectively raised thousands of dollars for these two charities, and we had a lot of fun doing so!
For altruistic initiatives to be successful, it requires our staff base to get on board–and that’s exactly what they did! From sporting violently coloured shirts to donating the entire contents of their tip jars, our employees fervently embraced and participated in our charitable efforts. Thanks team! We greatly appreciate your support!

Nominated for South Australia’s favourite food and beverage retailer.

As they say at the Oscars, ‘it’s a privilege to be nominated.’ Well, that’s how we feel about the South Australian Premier’s Food andBeverage Industry Consumer Awards!

Let Them Eat were nominated for SA’s ‘favourite food and beverage retailer’–and although we didn’t win (the business with the most public votes took out the title), we feel honoured to be in this elite category with such iconic brands.

Thank you to everyone who voted for us! Fingers crossed we can take it out in 2023!

Sustainable through and through

We’ve spent considerable time in 2022 integrating additional environmental and sustainable practices into our operations.

You may already know that we have recyclable coffee cups, 100% compostable packaging and discounts for bringing your own containers. But did you know that we’re now 100% plastic free in our stores and kitchen?

In addition to this, we’ve tightened up our recycling practices with the addition of new recycling and green bins. We’ve also introduced new sustainable merchandise to our suite of branded products, namely our glass coffee cups and gorgeous recyclable bags. Grab them in-store today!

Event of the year…Harvest Rock (hands down!)

We attend dozens of events every year, so it can be difficult to pick our favourite. But in 2022, this decision was easy! The Harvest RockFestival was by far our most exciting, memorable and largest catering gig.

Not only did we get to serve food to some of the biggest bands in the world (I’m talking about Crowded House, The Black Crowes, Groove Armada, The Living End, You and I, Jack White (from theWhite Stripes) and The Teskey Brothers) but we also catered for all the event’s staff, platinum areas and corporate suites.

It was a massive undertaking, but our talented and committed team did a magnificent job – and the feedback we received from those who ate our food was glowing!

Covid was still a thorn in our side

As we emerge from the black cloud that was Covid, we have been reflecting on the impact of the pandemic on Let Them Eat.

In the first half of 2022, we were still experiencing regular quarantine restrictions which impacted staff availability and store operating hours. But as we progressed through 2022, we saw the light at the end of the tunnel. Covid began to fade into the background, and event venues were packed with attendees once again. Hooray!

Thank you for supporting us in 2022

Without customers, like you, we wouldn’t exist. We can’t thank you enough for your patronage and support during the ups and downs of 2022.

We are currently working on exciting new releases in 2023 and we’d love to share them with you in due course.

We’d also like to take this opportunity to once again thank our incredible team who always do us proud, our wonderful suppliers and lastly, our families.

May 2023 be equally as fulfilling…

Danielle and Tanya
